Meet Your Instructor/Director:
Alexis Massey

Alexis has been involved in the performing arts—dancing, singing and acting—since the age of three.

Her formal training includes studies at the Fern Adair Academy of Performing Arts and the Interlochen School of the Arts, as well as regular training with world champions. Alexis earned a Bachelor of Science in Communication and Information on scholarship from the University of Tennessee, and her teaching certification through Dance Vision International Dance Association (DVIDA), which offered her the foundational training necessary to succeed in the partnership dance world.  She is a member of ProDVIDA (Dance Vision International Dance Association), NASSPDA (North American Same-Sex Partner Dance Association), and the NDCA (National Dance Council of America).

Alexis is the 2020 North American same-sex Latin champion, has won titles in American Rhythm, and is an American Smooth Champion. She is proficient in teaching over 30 styles of dance and movement. Competing in Latin dancing for over 13 years, she has won many first placements throughout her career, and has even taught Kevin Hart how to dance on his YouTube series, "What the Fit."

Performing with her students in showcases and competitions, her students often place first. Alexis wins top teaching awards dancing and competing with her students. In 2017, she won the coveted emerald ring as a top teacher at the Emerald Ball - one of the biggest competitions in the country.

Whether wanting to learn to dance for yourself or learning for a special event — salsa, club dances, or any of the ballroom dances— she can help you fulfill your dance goals.

Alexis loves to dance and share her passion.

She believes dancing is a skilled art for expression and connection.  She teaches in a patient, yet firm style highlighted with comedic relief.  Often called a "drill-sergeant," Alexis will ensure you learn "the right way" the first time.  She believes clean habits and confident dancers are created early. Positively affecting others through dance is one of her greatest joys.

She offers salsa and bachata dance lessons in Los Angeles, West LA, Beverly Hills, Bel Air, Santa Monica, Brentwood, Venice, Marina Del Rey, Mar Vista, Culver City, Westchester, Playa Del Rey, El Segundo, and Playa Vista.
